A Personal Journey with Robot Coloring Pages

The image featured here, lovingly titled "The Gentle Giant," captures the serenity of a moss-covered stone robot sheltering two tiny characters and their dog inside its chest. There's also a curious duck, a couple of mushrooms, and soft pink skies. Every line and curve invites not just color, but calmness.

As someone who colors to decompress after work, this page felt like a gentle hug. I made myself a warm cup of tea, picked up my ohuhu markers 320, and dove in.

I started with the sky—it felt like painting the mood. The pinks (R220, R250, RV270) blended like a fading sunset. Watching the hues melt into one another was oddly therapeutic, like exhaling after a long breath.

Then came the robot, whose ancient stillness seemed to hold stories. For the stone, I layered grays: CG020 for the base, CG050 to add shape, and NG040 in the deepest folds. The moss gave him life, so I picked GY4 and GY6 for the older, darker greens, and dabbed GY2 and G220 on top to make them feel fresh.

It felt like gardening, honestly—like coaxing something beautiful to grow.

The tiny characters inside his chest were the soul of the piece. I used BR1 and YR240 for their skin and hair tones, and some soft pastels (B050 for the shirt, BR3 for the dog) to keep the warmth intact. Coloring their little hideaway felt like building a home with color.

The mushrooms and cushions were bursts of joy—R160 and R190 added that juicy red pop, while YR030 softened the glow. The duck (Y030) and his blue umbrella (B120) were the last touches, like closing a fairy tale with a smile.

For some sparkly effects and extra highlights, I added white Gelly Roll pen accents to the raindrops and robot's edges, and used a Guangna Acrylic Marker to deepen the moss’s texture.
